English rock and pop musician, Paul Antony Young was born in 1956. Starting at a young age, he was initially associated with different music groups as a bass guitarist. He then joined Kat Kool & The Kool Kats as the lead singer.Then he joined another group by the same of Streetband which disbanded in 1979. Some of the band members recruited new members and formed Q-Tips. By 1980, band recorded two tracks, had a strong fan base and appeared for constant touring and performances. After the release of two albums and seven singles, Q-Tips disbanded and Paul Young signed a recording contract with CBS/Sony Records.
Paul Young started his solo career in 1982. His backing band The Royal Family included keyboardist Kewley, guitarist Steve Bolton, Bass player Pino Palladino, drummer Mike Pinder and backing singers Kim Leslie and Maz Roberts. Young released his debut solo album No Parlez that was certified Platinum. His second album The Street of Association went to number one in UK confirming his status as a superstar. His biggest worldwide career hit came with the song Everytime You Go Away which topped US pop charts and achieved critical reception in many countries.
Young continued his successful musical career touring many countries and performing with other musicians. His career highlights include singing Don’t Dream It’s Over at Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute, producing popular duet Senza una donna (Without a Woman) with Italian blues singer Zucchero and singing British National Anthem God Save the Queen at Wembley Stadium in Euro ’96.
In 1993, after ten years of successful solo career, Paul re-united band mates of Q-Tips and they appeared for a series of concerts. In 1995, following his passion for trying new things, Young formed his own backing group Los Pacaminos. The group performed in pubs and nightclubs singing songs like La Bamba, Speedy Gonzales and Wolly Bully. Young released another self titled solo album in 1997 while the group released Los Pacaminos in 2002 establishing themselves as a professional line-up of musicians passionate to play Tex-Mex sound. 2006 saw release of Young’s album Rock Swing – On The Wild Side Of Swing.
With the release of eight studio albums, one live album, thirteen compilation albums, and thirty six singles, Young has established himself as a powerful rock and pop singer with career spanning over more than four decades of his life. He still brings out unique and diverse music in his performances breaking new ground every year.
