Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel
Simon and Garfunkel first met for their school’s production of Alice in Wonderland; they were only eleven at the time. The two hit it off immediately and by the time they turned thirteen they were performing together. In hindsight, they were destined to become one of the best musical duos ever, especially when you realize that the very first song Simon wrote as a teenager The Girl for Me became a local hit.
Paul Simon Since 1970
The breaking up of Simon & Garfunkel is well documented. However, what is not fully appreciated is Simon’s solo musical career. Simon has released thirteen studio albums, fifteen singles, eleven compilation albums, and three live albums.
While most of his studio albums have been certified in the US and the rest of the world, especially Europe, two albums stand out. They are The Rhythm of the Saints and Graceland. On Graceland Simon collaborated with South African musicians and the album won the 1987 Grammy Award in the Album of the Year category.
Paul Simon’s most recent album Stranger to Stranger was released in 2016. Rolling Stone reviewed Simon’s latest effort as inviting, immaculately produced, jokey and unsettled a record as any he has ever made. He’ll be performing songs from this album and his previous works at the Merriweather Post. So get your Paul Simon Columbia tickets now.
