Paul Frederic Simon is an American songwriter, actor and singer who began performing actively in 1957. Born in Queens, Simon started performing at the age of 11 when he became acquainted with Art Garfunkel in secondary school. Simon’s father, Louis who was a musician himself would compose songs for them which they would then record. One of Simon and Garfunkel’s earliest recordings was the song ‘The Girl for Me’ which they sang at the age of twelve. After graduating from college, Simon became composing songs rigorously and sang over 30 numbers in between 1957 and 1964. He continued his collaboration with Garfunkel and together they released 5 studio albums, 4 live records and 15 compilation albums.

As a solo artist, Paul Simon released his debut album in 1965 named ‘The Paul Simon Songbook.’ He had his first success in 1972 with an eponymous release that reached number 1 in the UK, Sweden, Norway and Finland and number 2 in Canada and the US. Over the years, Simon has released 11 studio albums, 9 compilation albums and 2 live records, his most successful album being 1986’s ‘Graceland’ that sold a whopping 16 million copies internationally.
