Birth of a star
It is not easy to win over the world with your music but Paloma San Basilio did that effortlessly. Born in Madrid, the Spanish singer decided to pursue a career in the music industry in 1975. Her first album, ‘Sombras’ got things started for her and it caught the attention of the masses. A couple of years later in 1977, she put out her second record titled, ‘Dónde vas’ which catapulted her further towards stardom. Paloma then released a live album, ‘Beso a beso... dulcemente’ in 1978 which was recorded at the Teatro Monumental. Her third studio effort, ‘En Directo’ hit the stores in the same year. She then embarked on a Latin American tour which also led her to perform some shows for the people of the United States and Canada.
Paloma San Basilio later tasted more success when she wrote the soundtrack of the Broadway musical, ‘Evita’ in 1980.
