Formed in 2011, Palma Violets is an English rock band originally formed by the lead vocalist and guitarist, Samuel Fryer and bassist, Chilli Jesson. Later, the drummer William Martin Doyle and keyboardist Jeffrey Peter Mayhew also joined in and collectively premiered their song, Step Up for the Cools Cats on BBC Radio 1. Before the release of the debut single, Best of Friends, the band earned a fairly huge online fan following. These avid fans also uploaded several videos of the band’s live performances.
Released in February 2013, 180 is the band’s debut studio album that was released through the Rough Trade Records. The album is a collection of eleven singles including Best of Friends, Step Up for the Cool Cats, All the Garden Birds, Chicken Dippers, Last of the Summer Wine and We Found Love among others. Produced by Steve Mackey, the song, Step Up for the Cools Cats was chosen as Zane Lowe's Hottest Record in the World.
