Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark was formed in 1978 and is new wave group originating from Wirral Peninsula in England. The band got extremely famous after its entry into the industry and never disappointed the fans by letting their music quality drop. The band members have been consistent and dedicated towards producing great music and that has been their mantra ever since formation. The band was at the forefront of the Synthpop revolution that glided across the United Kingdom and in the 1970s and the 1980s.

Andy McCluskey and Paul Hemphreys were the founding members of the band and have stuck with it throughout the long and successful journey it has taken. Besides these two, the band also includes Malcolm Holmes and Martin Cooper. McCluskey and Hemphreys were friends since primary school and with the passage of time discovered that they harbored a passion for music that they longed to probe and exploit. As teenagers they joined various local groups and gave small performances to gain experience and get over stage fright. They bonded over the aversion each had for the hard rock, guitar driven music that had taken the world by storm. They wanted to create music that would not only suit their own style but would also make them popular in the music industry. Needless to say they found their niche in Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and gave a new meaning to new wave, pop punk, synthpop and experimental genres of music.

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark has released around twelve studio albums, all of which have been all the rage with their fans. Their first album was released in 1980 and was titled "Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark". The music of the album was energetic and excited the listeners. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark created a stir in the music industry with their eclectic music and the innovative sound of their songs.

The band, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, continued to appease their fans with amazing music. Their sixth album "Crush" was another masterpiece of art and music and solidified the act that Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark was here to stay. Released in 1985, the album was a combination of strong and forceful music that the listeners could feel in their veins. The critics praised the album for the simple and clean arrangements of the music and the songs. The album got noticed specially because Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark deviated from their usual sound and presented a different style in Crush.

One of the band’s later albums, "Liberator" came out in 1993. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark once again experimented with their sound and presented their fans with a different style and music composition. The album was loved by the fans because of its sophisticated music and smooth percussions. The album focused mainly on dance music and succeeded in pulling the listeners up to their feet and make them sway to the music. The album was a lighthearted combination of disco and 1990’s contemporary pop music and was a very good effort put up by the band.
