About the Band Members
Nakho And Medicine For The People comprises of six band members, with the lead member being Nakho Bear. Let’s take a look at the musicians in this group.
Nakho Bear: Nakho Bear is a musician true to his band’s vision. Born in Oregon, the artist is a mix of Native American, Puerto-Rican and Filipino bloodlines. Not satisfied with the world around him, Nakho left his house when he was just a teenager to look for adventure. Soon, he was on a journey to fill the cultural gaps that divided his own mind. Around this time, he started producing a public journal that listed the events of his personal, social and spiritual healing. That is how Medicine for the People began.
Chase Makai: Makai got interested in playing the guitar from the age of twelve. After moving to Hawaii, he met Nakho Bear. Both shared a similar free-spirited personality with a love for music. And before we knew it, he was a part of Medicine for the People.
Justin Chittams: Justin Chittams was born into a musical family. His father got him started on his musical path early and he had learned to play the trombone at 6 years old. Chittams soon moved to drums and in 2008, shifted to Hilo Hawaii. Here, he graduated as a music major and began playing with a bunch of local bands.
Pato: Patricio, born in Chile, got involved in music by accident – literally! He had a football accident that left him bed-ridden. He was offered the choice of a guitar or a Nintendo. He chose guitar and hence began an illustrious musical journey that would see him travel throughout the world.
Max Ribner: Max Ribner is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music. He has since established himself as a top flugelhorn and trumpet player and has been a part of Nakho Bear & Medicine For the People for almost 9 years now!
Tim Snider: Snider was inspired by a performance on Sesame Street when he was just little over three years old. Over the years, other influences made their way into his mind, with exposure to rock music, jazz and classical music. He met Max Ribner when travelling around the US in his van.
