Format of My Brother My Brother Me
Every week, the brothers answer questions that have either been submitted directly by the listeners or that the listeners have found on Yahoo! Answers. The latter type is usually referred to as “Yahoo”, by the brothers as they get into long humorous discussions. “The Money Zone” is a segment on the show where the brothers read paid messages and advertisements. Other segments that are a part of most podcasts include “Munch Squad”, that makes fun of press released from fast food companies about their new products; “Haunted Doll Watch”, that talks about random eBay listings of apparently possessed, haunted or cursed dolls; “Movie Watch” is where the brothers have a discussion about incorrect or inaccurate plot points in films that are currently screening and “Sad Libs”, where Travis creates sad stories with blank spaces and finished them up with completely nonsense words.
The show sometimes records its episodes in front of live audiences at various venues, in cities such as New York, Huntington and Los Angeles. It also released a special episode “The Adventure Zone” in 2014, which was about the brothers playing an entertaining game of Dungeons & Dragons with their dad. The Adventure Zone then ended up becoming its own separate podcast on the network, due to its popularity with the audiences.
Over the passage of time, the show has used various songs as its theme song. The primary theme song for My Brother, My Brother and Me is “(It’s a) Departure” performed by John Roderick & The Long Winters from their album, Putting the Days to Bed. Before this, the theme song for the show was a song by ABBA called “Take a Chance on Me”.
The Television Series
Due to the success of the podcast, a television series based on it was ordered for NBS’s streaming video platform in 2016. The production and filming for this took place in the hometown of the three brothers in West Virginia. The first season of the show ran for six episodes. In June of 2017, the series was sold to another media group called Otter Media.
