The forthcoming series of shows that will present Mike Birbiglia will thoroughly entertain his fans. Born in 1978, Birbiglia is from Shewbury, Massachusetts. With Italian descent, the comedian attended the St. John’s High School in Shewbury after which he enrolled into St. Mark’s School. He chose Georgetown University which he attended till 2000. During this time, he took part in the university’s comedy clubs such as the Georgetown Players Improv Troupe. Soon after graduating Mike Birbiglia started performing standup shows throughout local bars and night clubs all across Massachusetts.
Throughout his career, the comedian has released eight comedy albums, three of which have been released by Comedy Central Records, namely “Two Drink Mike” released in 2006, “My Secret Public Journal Live” released in 2008 and his most recent release “Sleepwalk with Me Live” released in 2011. The book was also included in the finalists for a Thurber Prize for American Humor in 2011.
With success in stand-up comedy and writing, Mike Birbiglia tried his hands at direction. Releasing his debut feature film in 2012 that was based on his one-man theatre show Birbiglia premiered the movie at the Sundance Film Festival. Winning the NEXT Audience Award at the film festival, “Sleepwalk with Me” was also chosen for the “Festival Favorites” award category in the South by Southwest Film Festival held in Austin, Texas. Performing the last of “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend” shows in June 2013 at the Carnegie Hall, Mike Birbiglia announced that he would be turning this one-man off Broadway show into a feature film as well.
