Michael Grimm began making appearances, although not on a very large scale, at the age of just eleven. After hearing him sing at a club during a wedding, the club owner offered him to sing a karaoke at his club where he continued to perform for the next few years. Upon reaching the age of fifteen, Grimm had already started writing songs and playing guitar which he had learned himself. He spent the next whole year learning guitar and writing songs. His efforts were materialized when just after a few years he got hired for the "Legends in Concert," a live celebrity impersonation show in Biloxi, as a back-up vocalist and guitarist.
Later, Michael met Ann McNair, a Gospel singer with the help of whom he shifted to Nashville and signed with Mattikay Music, an indie label. His first single released on this record was "John Wayne and Jesus" which garnered him the first ever award of "Star of Tomorrow" by the Christian Country Music Association. It was upon seeing Cookie Watkins playing live that Grimm shifted from Country to R&B and starting following the great music contemporaries like Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Joe Cocker, Daryl Hall, Righteous Brothers and Al Green among others.
At the age of 21, Michael Grimm made his entrance to the "Legends in Concert" at Las Vegas. He then moved to the west where he lived and worked for almost a decade with some of the biggest stars and producers in the music industry. But the real success in his musical career came in 2010, when he gave auditions for the fifth season of the famous reality show "America’s Got Talent". The audition was highly praised by the audience as well as the three judges and Grimm was qualified for the Vegas Week. Although "Try a Little Tenderness" which he sang at the Vegas Week was criticized by one of the judges, Grimm reached quarterfinals where he performed "Tired of Being Alone" which was again highly praised.
Next came the semifinals where he sang "You Can Leave Your Hat On" and managed to give an excellent performance despite being ill. In the finals he performed "Let’s Stay Together" without his guitar and reached among the Top 4. During the finale of the show, Grimm sang "When a Man Loves a Woman" which was inspired by his girlfriend Lucie whom he later proposed on stage. The fifth season was eventually won by Grimm, earning him the prize money of one million dollar and a chance to headline the "America’s Got Talent" first national tour. Following this major achievement, Grimm signed with Epic Records and released his debut, a self-titled CD in 2011.
Grimm then returned to his live concerts and toured extensively, from California to New York, promoting his latest album, Gumbo which was released in 2012. He also became a part of the Jimmy Rodgers Festival, headlining it in Meridian. Grimm is also the resident headliner at the Ovation Showroom and can be seen at the Green valley Resort every Saturday.
