The album itself topped the Billboard 2000 and spawned various chart topping singles. A very popular single from this album, When a Man Loves a Woman, topped the Billboard Hot 100 where several other singles from the same album performed decently on some of the other charts. In the US alone, this single album sold over eight million copies. The song was a major success around the globe as well where the album has sold over sixteen million copies. The icing on the cake for this album was when Michael Bolton's cover of 'When a Man Loves a Woman' received a Grammy Award.

Bolton has released 17 studio albums of which, at least eight have been highly successful on the Billboard 200, making it to the top ten.
