Measha Brueggergosman was in 1977 at Fredericton, Canada. She started to listen to classical music at a very early age and that led her to start learning how to sing. Her incredible singing talents were first recognized by her teacher when she was in the first grade. The teacher requested Measha's parents to enroll her in piano and singing lessons. She also sang as a member of a choir in a local church as a youngster. From there on she went to study at renowned institutions like the Boston Conservatory. She also took lessons from Wendy Nielsen, another Soprano. Then she got enrolled at the University of Toronto from where she graduated with a degree of Bachelors of Music. Then she went and stayed in Germany for five years for her Master's degree where she studied at the famous Robert Schumann Hochschule.
Measha took the stage for her first major performance in the year 1998. She played Beatrice at the worldwide premiere of the opera Beatrice Chancy. That performance of hers brought the roof down and earned her rave reviews from every corner. The performance was filmed and showed on TV in her native Canada two years later. That performance was followed by another epic one in Nova Scotia in 1999. Between 2000 and 2001 she won numerous awards and accolades like Kirsten Flagstad Memorial Award and the biggest accolade at the International Wigmore Hall Song Competition. But it was in 2002 that she really came to the fore and put herself on the road to becoming the star she is today by winning the coveted Grand Prize at the Jeunesses Musicales International Competition.
The 2004-2005 season saw Measha making her debut at the prestigious Boston Symphony Orchestra. It was also in 2004 that saw her first ever recording come out for a commercial release. It was released by the label CBC and was a collection of tracks by the trio of Gershwin, Copland and Barber. The year turned out to be full of one momentous occasion after another. She also made her debut with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester and followed that up with taking the stage for the first at the Cologne Philharmonic. On top of that she also hit the road for a tour of North America and Europe. In 2005 she performed for the first time at the San Francisco Symphony.
During that period she also kept on coming out with numerous recordings. One hit release after another led her to being signed by Deutsche Grammophon in the year 2007. It was once again in 2007 that she sang a medley of the Phantom of the Opera. In 2008 she bagged a Juno Award in the category of the Best Classical Album. She received the accolade for her collection of works done by Bolcom, Satie and Schoenberg.
