The current incarnation of Maroon 5 can be traced back to the band Kara’s Flowers, which began performing in 1994. In 2001, the band added guitarist James Valentine to the lineup and pursued a different music direction under the name Maroon 5.
The new band immediately found main stream success with the release of their debut album, Songs About Jane, in 2002. The album spawned the hit songs “She Will Be Loved” and “Harder to Breath” and has now been certified five times platinum.
Maroon 5 released their second album in 2007. Titled, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, the album was another hit on the charts and gave the band its first number one record on the Billboard 200.
Their next two albums, 2011’s Hands All Over and 2012’s Overexposed, were both massive hits. Both albums peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 and have been certified as platinum in the US.
The group’s latest album, V, was released in 2014 and became the band’s second number one hit on the Billboard 200. With hit songs like “Animals” and “Maps,” the album has become a crowd favorite and has been certified platinum as well.
