How it all began
Born in 1983, Margo Rae Price grew up in Illinois where she fell in love with music and started to sing in a church choir. Price later enrolled at the Northern Illinois University where she studied theater and dance but dropped out in 2003. She then moved to Nashville and began working as a waitress. At the same time, she got married to Jeremy Ivey and together they started a group, Buffalo Clover. The group also included, Dillon Napier, Jason White and Matt Gardner.
As a member of Buffalo Clover, Margo Price recorded three albums, ‘Pick Your Poison,’ ‘Low Down Time’ and ‘Test Your Love’ and they hit the markets in 2010, 2011 and 2013 respectively. Price then went on to form another group called, Margo and the Pricetags.
Margo Price then thought about going solo. She was soon included in Rolling Stone Country’s list of the, ‘Country Artist You Need to Know’ in 2014 and a year later, Price contributed backing vocals to the Parker McCollum song, Prohibition Rose. This song appeared on McCollum’s album, ‘The Limestone Kid.’
Midwest Farmer’s Daughter
Influenced by names like Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin, Dolly Patron, Bobby Gentry and Willie Nelson, Margo Price kicked off her journey by spawning her first solo studio effort, ‘Midwest Farmer’s Daughter’ on March 25, 2016. The album put her under the spotlight and peaked at the first spot on the UK Country Albums chart. In America, it reached the tenth spot on the Top Country Albums chart. Moreover, it earned her an American Music Prize.
‘Midwest Farmer’s Daughter’ also impressed the critics as AllMusic gave it four and a half stars out of five. Moreover, it received an 86/100 rating from Metacritic and was included in Entertainment Weekly’s lists of ‘The 50 Best Albums of 2016’ and ‘The Best Country Album of 2016.’ Plus, it also made Cosmopolitan’s list of ‘The 15 Best Albums of 2016.’
All American Made
A year later, Margo Price’s sophomore album, ‘All American Made’ came out. This album was approved by both country fans and the critics. It debuted at the twelfth spot on the Top Country Albums and made it to Rough Trade’s list of the ‘Albums of the Year.’ The record featured two singles, Weakness and A Little Pain and collected glowing reviews from famous publications like Rolling Stone and AllMusic.
Heading out on tour
Margo Price is now scheduled to hit the road in support of ‘All American Made.’ She plans to start her tour by performing her first gig in January of 2018 at the Headliners Music Hall in Louisville. She will then fly to St. Louis where Price will play her second concert at The Ready Room. From there, this new country sensation will go on to take the stage in main cities like, Dallas, Austin, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Phoenix, Denver and Portland. Margo Price will be ending her tour in June by performing her final gig at the Chrysler Hall in Norfolk.
