The American standup comic is known for his notable works such as The Marc Maron Show, Morning Sedition, WTF with Marc Maron, Jerusalem Syndrome, Breakroom Live etc. However it has not been an easy journey for him as fame and recognition did not just fall into his lap. His early career includes working at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. When he moved to the New York City that is when his fair share of struggle started. Although he was seen regularly performing as a standup comic in early 90s Maron was still trying hard to make his presence known. In the mid 90s he auditioned for Saturday Night Live, a variety show on NBC but as fate had it he failed to land the role. While pursuing his career in standup comedy he also gave other ventures a shot. Consequently working in series such as Dr. Katz Professional Therapist and Short Attention Span Theater. Simultaneously showcasing his comic skills on HBO, Comedy Central Presents and Cam Neely Foundation alongside Denis Leary, Steven Wright and Jon Stewart.
However the tables turned when his show The Jerusalem Syndrome came his way in 2000 catapulting Marc Maron to fame. He also penned his personal experiences regarding his visit to Israel in a book of the same name which was released in 2oo1. The year 2008 saw him touring with two acclaimed standup comedians Eugene Mirman and Andy Kindler in Stand Uppity: Comedy that makes You Feel Better about Yourself and Superior to Others. In 2009 he landed an opportunity to run another one-man show called Scorching the Earth. The same year Breakroom Live with Maron & Seder also surfaced. Since the show was conducted in a very casual way it helped Maron just be himself. The year 2009 also marks the emergence of his highly successful podcast WTF with Marc Maron garnering positive reviews from Entertainment Weekly and New York Times. On the show Maron interviewed celebrity guests including actors, comedians and his old friends. WTF with Marc Maron swept 2012’s Comedy Central Comedy Award for Best Comedy Podcast. Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Steven Wright, Conan O’Brien, Robin Williams, Doug Stanhope and Loius C.K are some of the past guests from the show.
Morning Sedition and The Marc Maron Show are also deemed as standout show in his career as a radio personality. The former was broadcast in 2004 which Maron co-hosted with Mark Riley. This early morning show centered on politics featuring call-in segments and interviews etc. on the contrary, The Marc Maron Show was a two hour long night show heard on KTLK (AM) and could also be viwed online. In 2009 Marc’s collaboration with Sam Seder paved the way for Maron vs Seder which was later called Breakroom Live with Maron & Seder.
