Connecting The Dots
With a burning desire to be a singer since childhood, Maggie Rogers did all in her hand to achieve her dreams. She took the first step towards her dream when she had to beg her parents for harp lessons. Rogers studied harp at the age of 8 at the Salisbury University with an instructor and took piano classes as well. She did all she could to sing in front of an audience, be it participating in events during her student life or singing in a choir at the church. Her love for musical instruments knew no bounds, so she tried her hand on guitar and banjo and developed interest in folk music.
Maggie Rogers recorded her first independent album “The Echo” during 2012 in a broom closet turned into a makeshift studio. This album made her application for New York University Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music quite strong and she used her time over there to give an official head start to her music career. Another independent album “Blood Ballet” hit the shelves in 2014 and was taken well by her fans.
The Life Changing Performance
One class at NYU Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music changed her life for better. Maggie was performing in front of a special guest who happened to be the beat making star Pharrel Williams. He was amazed with her performance and made a comparison of her sound with the perfect Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. It was no less than an ultimate shot to stardom that opened many doors of opportunities for her. The moment was captured in a video that later got viral on YouTube and people loved her performance. To her surprise, she garnered a loyal fan base that was eagerly waiting for her to release the official songs.
As some months passed by, Maggie came up with her first song “Alaska” in 2016. The song inspired from a hiking trip ranked at number 18 on the Billboard Hot Rock Songs chart and catapulted the bright-eyed singer to fame. Even before launching an album, she attracted many music enthusiasts to her song and took over the radio.
Her Discography
During an internship for the music journalist Lizzy Goodman, she took some interviews which later became a part of the book “Meet Me in the Bathroom” in 2017. With all these experiences, Maggie was taking small steps towards making her dream career. She released her EP “Now That the Light Is Fading” in 2017 that was absolutely loved by her fans and they badly wanted her to release a full length album.
To keep her fans happy, Maggie came up with her debut album “Heard It In A Past Life” in 2019 through Capitol Records and Debay Sounds. Laced with perfect tunes and giving a pop polish to her music, the album comprised many beautiful songs with heartfelt lyrics.
Maggie looks up to Gustav Holst and Vivaldi for inspiration in music and is always trying to come up with better tunes and vocals to stay at top of her game. While growing up, she also listened to neo-soul divas such as Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu.
In little time, Maggie Rogers made her mark in the music industry with iconic songs that earned her critical acclaim. Her fans are pleased with the music she is producing and hope to see her reaching greater heights of fame. This is evident in her concerts jam-packed with enthusiastic followers who can’t get enough of her. Her performances during the “North American Summer Tour” are highly anticipated, so get hold of your Maggie Rogers tickets before you miss out the most happening concert in town.
