Date & Time

Lyle Lovett was born in Klein, Texas, a town named after his great-grandfather. Adam Klein was a Bavarian weaver and the town later became a Houston suburb. Lyle began his musical career much later; it started off with his passion for writing songs. This happened while he attended Texas A & M University in 1970’s where he studied German and Journalism. As a student, he performed original songs and covers at local clubs and folk festivals. He traveled to Germany as a student to study and continued to write lyrics and play during his stay in Europe. Still, he didn't initiate a career in music until he came back to America in the early 1980s.

Lyle Lovett is one of the most distinctive and innovative singer/songwriters to emerge during the 1980s. Lovett is the perfect combination of talent due to his lyrical detail with an extensive display of music, ranging from country and folk to big-band swing and traditional pop. Lovett's songs stood out from those of his counterparts. Due to this reason, his fan following doubled and he released more albums in the years to come. His debut album, Lyle Lovett was released in 1986 by Curb Records which gave him recognition but it was his second album, Pontiac which sold like hot cake and received US Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as the album sold more than 500,000 copies. After that there was no looking back and he continued working on other albums.

He made headlines when he married superstar Julia Roberts, but unfortunately they signed for divorce in the spring of 1995, and Lyle Lovett withdrew from the limelight, spending the rest of the year writing and touring. In 1996, Lovett made a come-back with his key album since Pontiac, The Road to Ensenada. This album was also dominated by country songs. Not only did it perform well at the Pop Charts, it also arrived at a career high of number 24. The Road to Ensenada performed successfully on the country charts as well, entering at the number four position. In the year 1999, Lovett delivered his first performance record, Live in Texas, and his music to Director Altman’s film Dr. T. & the Women in 2000. In 2003, he released the album My Baby Don't Tolerate under Lost Highway Records. The music company also released two other albums; It's Not Big It's Large in 2007 and Natural Forces in 2009.

Lyle Lovett has enjoyed an extensive career that has earned him four Grammy Awards including Best Country Album and Best Male Country Vocal Performance, magazine covers, and Top Ten hits, all of which highlight his extraordinary skills on the stage and in the recording studio. It's Not Big It's Large was released in 2007, where it debuted and peaked at #2 on the Top Country Albums chart. He was also awarded Americana Trailblazer Award in 2007 by Americana Music Association (AMA).

In his extensive career, Lyle has performed in several countries and has gained popularity from all age groups. His concerts in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and United Kingdom have been specifically very successful.
