Lucius have made a massive impact on indie music in a relatively short period of time. They have reached where they are right now through the power of their music. If you want to see them perform live on their latest tour, grab your Lucius tickets now.
The seeds for the formation of the band were planted at the prestigious Berklee because that is where the founders of Lucius, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig met. The two of them had a few friends in common which is how Holly and Jess met one another. It did not take them too long to realize that they had more or less the same vision for music. That is when they decided it would be cool to form a girl band.
Jess and Holly did not waste any time and met the very next morning to work on a few arrangements. That project however failed to take off but that was the point where the two of them began to write music for the first time.
The Music Career Begins
Holly and Jess then moved into an old Victorian mansion that had an old recording studio and some vintage pianos. In the year 2009, they released "Songs from the Bromley House," a record that was a tribute of sorts to the house they were residing in. Another eight musicians joined them, two of whom, Peter Lalish and Dan Molad eventually became permanent members of Lucius.
The First Album
Lucius came out with a self-titled EP in February of 2012. They had put in a lot of effort to record it and spent almost the whole of 2011 in order to do that. They earned placements in shows like Catfish and Grey's Anatomy which eventually brought them to the attention of the mainstream media. A performance at the Tiny Desk followed in January of 2013. One of their songs Until We Get There went on to feature on "New Girl," the TV show. Lucius spent a big part of 2013 touring and completing work on their debut studio album at the same time.
"Wildewoman" was the name of their debut studio album and it hit the stores on October 15, 2013. It received positive reviews from the critics as AllMusic and Rolling Stone both gave it three and a half stars out of five. On the commercial front, the album went on to peak at the fifth spot on the US Top Heatseekers chart and at the thirty sixth position on the US Independent Albums chart.
Lucius then embarked on a World Tour that saw them on the road from the fall of the year 2013 till the end of the next year. A deluxe version of the album was released in October of 2014. The band's world tour eventually came to a close on December 6 with a concert at Terminal 5 that was completely sold-out.
Lucius released their next album titled "Good Grief" on March 11, 2016. Shawn Everett, the Grammy winner produced the record. The album's sound was a throwback to the synth melodies of the 1980s and the theme was about the difficulties of marriage.
The record received three and a half stars out of five from AllMusic and got a B+ rating from the Consequence of Sound. It also went on to peak at the ninety second position on the Billboard 200 and at the sixth position on the US Independent Albums chart. Good Grief also climbed to the fifteenth position on the US Top Rock Albums chart and to the thirteenth spot on the US Top Alternative Albums chart.
Now Lucius are on another tour that will see them play plenty of shows all across the US. So, if indie pop is your kind of music, then book your Lucius tickets and get ready to party with one of the most talented bands on the circuit today.
