The first studio album released by LL Cool J was Radio in 1985. It received some good critical and commercial acclamation, and marked his entry into the world of music as an upcoming talented rapper. The album was rated Platinum by RIAA, with significantly popular singles included in it being Rock the Bells and Can’t Live Without My Radio.
 
His second album Bigger and Deffer was released in 1987. The new album did an even better business than its predecessor, selling 2,300,000 copies as compared to 1,500,000 copies of the first album. The new album received remarkably good reviews by the critics, and was awarded many titles, including one of the top 100 albums ever by The Source Magazine. A single from the album titled I Need Love reached number 1 position on R&B / Hip Hop Charts, apart from being at number eight on UK Singles Charts and at number 14 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Charts. It also won the Best Rap Single Award by Soul Train Music Awards.
 
Subsequent albums released by the rapper included The DEFinition, Mama Said Knock You Out, Todd Smith, 14 Shots to the Dome, Walking with a Panther, Mr. Smith, Phenomenon, G.O.A.T., 10 and Exit 13. All his albums received great public response, and had a wonderful critical acclamation. The artist has also released a single titled NCIS: No Crew Is Superior in 2009 that has not been included in any album as yet but gaining popularity among public.

Starting his acting career from a small high school football movie titled Wildcats, his major fame as an actor came from his roles in movies like Deep Blue Sea and Last Holiday.
