Lindsey Buckingham is among some of the finest guitarists and rock musicians of our time, who rose to success during his tenure as a lead vocalist and guitarist for the band Fleetwood Mac. Apart from his work with Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham has also laid down some solo recordings and a live album.
During his early ages, Buckingham initially had his interests embedded in swimming, but later after having a go at a Toy Mickey Mouse Guitar. He and his parents discovered that he had a knack for music. So he got his first guitar from his parents during his early teenage. Buckingham was interest in Folk music by the time he was thirteen and almost two years later, he ended up being in a folk group called Fritz. In 1972, Buckingham along with his girlfriend Stevie Nicks, formed a band and record a couple of demos to fetch a record deal. Their aspiration led them to California where they were signed by Polydor records. Soon after the release of their debut album, Polydor dropped them as the album did poor commercially.
After Polydor, Buckingham Nicks still didn’t lose hope and started getting attention of upcoming musicians to expand their lineup. Soon after the duo joined Fleetwood Mac, and went on a short tour to help promote Buckingham Nicks’ debut album. Lindsey Buckingham became a guitarist for the Fleetwood Mac, after Mick Fleetwood heard a song by Buckingham Nicks and inquired of the guitarist. After discovering Buckingham, he asked him to join the band, but Buckingham wouldn’t join Fleetwood Mac until Nicks comes with him. So Mick Fleetwood quickly took both of them in.
In 1975, Fleetwood Mac made its debut and released a self titled album that went on to become a hit. Fleetwood Mac went on to receive ultimate stardom with the release of their second studio album titled Rumours. The album was a massive success, and still remains to be history’s one of the best selling albums. Go Your Own Way was the lead single from the album that went up to the US Top Ten chart. In 1979, the group released its third studio album that was directed by Buckingham himself. The lead single of the album shot up to the Top Ten once again, while the album did well commercially. Although the sales weren’t as much as their previous album, but still it did pretty good. Following the release, the group went on hiatus for their recording efforts.
Around the time when Buckingham was working on Tusk, he also started producing albums for John Stewart and Walter Egan. In 1981, Lindsey Buckingham came up with debut solo album titled Law and Order. The album featured a hit single titled Trouble that went on to Top Ten chart. After his first solo effort, it wouldn’t be until two years, when he penned and record two more solo songs. The songs were written and recording by Buckingham for the movie National Lampoon’s Vacation. He also record a song called Time Bomb Town for the 1985 release Back to the Future.
Buckingham’s second solo album surfaced in the market in 1984. The album was titled Go Insane and proved to be a modest hit. In 1987, Buckingham parted ways from Fleetwood Mac and spent the next five years recording his follow up studio album. His third studio album, Out of the Cradle, came out in 1992 and received moderately positive reviews. Although the sales were good but not close to the sales during his affiliation with Fleetwood Mac.
