Making his presence felt
Gazzy Garcia, known as Lil Pump was born in Miami, Florida in 2000. He grew up listening to rap superstars like, Chief Keef and Lil B. At first, he wasn’t interested in pursuing music but then his friend and fellow rapper, Smokepurpp persuaded him to do so. In an interview with XXL, he said,
“I started making music because of Smokepurpp. He made me go into the studio one day and I just freestyled. I never wanted to be a rapper before, it just happened.”
Garcia soon started to write lyrics of his own rap songs. With help from Smokepurpp, he recorded his first single, Lil Pump. He released this song in 2016. Its music video which has crossed nine million views on YouTube. The positive response he received for his debut track made him put out more music. That led to him releasing follow-up songs Elementary, Ignorant and DrumStick. All of these tracks came out in the same year and became enormous hits.
