Liam Gallagher kicked of his journey in the music industry with his brother, Noel Gallagher by forming the band, Oasis in 1991. The band became a big name in the rock music community. Oasis started their journey with a bang by releasing their debut record, ‘Definitely Maybe’ which arrived in stores on August 29, 1994. The album turned out to be a huge success in different parts of the world and besides selling more than seven million copies in the United Kingdom, it also went platinum in the United States. Moreover, it was included in Rolling Stones’ list of the, ‘500 Greatest Albums of All Time’ and was also mentioned in Guitar World’s list of the ‘Superunknown: 50 Iconic Albums that Defined 1994.’
After that, Oasis released their second album, ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’ on October 2, 1995. The record once again didn’t disappoint the band’s fans and charted at the first spot on the UK Albums chart. It also topped charts in countries like Australia, Canada, Ireland and Sweden. The album went on to sell more than twenty two million copies globally and featured six insanely hit singles including, Champagne Supernova which has been covered by many stars including, Snow Patrol, The Killers and David Cook.
Their last album of the decade, ‘Be Here Now’ hit the shelves on August 21, 1997. This record brought the group even more success in the United States as it peaked at the second spot on the Billboard 200. It received positive feedback from the critics and featured a single, D’You Know What I Mean which appeared on NME’s list of the, ‘150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years.’
Liam Gallagher work on four more Oasis’s albums after that including, ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ which was the band’s last record. In 2009, Liam and Noel had an altercation which led to the dissolution of Oasis.
Following the break-up, Liam Gallagher and other members of Oasis formed the group, Beady Eyes. With the band, he went on to release only two albums, ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’ and ‘Be’ in 2011 and 2013 respectively. These albums could not match Oasis’ previous work but still managed to perform well in the United Kingdom. The group was also nominated for an NME Award under the category of the ‘Best New Band.’ Liam stayed with Beady Eyes till 2014 and after that, he started to focus on his solo career.
As You Were
In 2016, Liam Gallagher started recording his debut studio effort with producers, Andrew Wyatt, Greg Kurstin and Dan Grech-Marguerat. Titled, ‘As You Were,’ the record hit the stores in 2017. It received three and a half stars out of five from the Rolling Stone and climbed to the first spot on the UK Albums chart. It also landed at the thirtieth spot on the Billboard 200.
Liam is now coming to the United States to support, ‘As You Were.’ He will begin his trek by performing his first gig at the Warfield soon.
