Latin Legends Live Schedule 2017-18
Speaking of El Chicano, the band was initially known as the VIP’s. They are compared to Santana on most occasions but he is not their only influence; the band appreciates many others such as Cannibal and the Headhunters, The Midniters, Pucho, Tito Puente and Ray Baretto. It is not only Mexican and American music that influenced their work; they also focused on Puerto Rican and Cuban styles. Moving on to the band members, we have Bobby Espinosa, who was the leader / co-founder and also played the organ, acoustic piano, electric guitars and sang too. Freddie Sanchez was on vocals and bass, Andrea Baesa on congas, Mickey Lespron on vocals and lead guitar and John De Luna on the drums. However, the bands members kept changing; some member such as Ersi Arvizu, Max Garduno, Joe Perreria and quite a few others joined after the 70’s while some members left to join another band Tierra.
Viva Travedo was El Chicano’s debut album with a massive hit in the form of an instrumental song written by Gerald Wilson who was a jazz pianist. This song was an insane hit reaching the number twenty eight spot on the Billboard Pop Singles chart and also earned the twentieth spot on the R n’ B singles chart.
Following Viva Travedo, El Chicano came up with a few other albums; Revolucion, Celebration, El Chicano, Pyramid of Love and Friends, The Best of Everything, Cinco. The Pyramid of Love and Friends was probably the second biggest hit by the band with the very famous song Tell Her She’s Lovely.
El Chicano had albums such as This Is…El Chicano and Look of Love. The band wasn’t in the scene around much of the 80’s and 90’s but they did come out in 1998 with Painting the Moment which also marked Mickey Lespron’s return as lead guitarist. Tieraa is another band that has some links with El Chicano; The Salas bothers formed Tierra in the 70’s. Rudy is a vocalist and guitarist and Steve plays the timbales and the trombone. The other band members are Bobby Navarete, Joey Guerra, Steve Falomir, Philip Madayag and Andre Baeza.
The Salas brothers would perform as a duet and also were a part of El Chicano with Andre Baeza before they formed Tierra. Tierra earned fame with their unique style; a blend of salsa, pop and R n’ B. After some time, commercial success got them a Top 20 cover version of Together. Two more cover versions followed; La La Means I Love You and Memories. These too were exceptionally good. The band kept recording towards 1993 and even got into signing a new contract with the label Triumph.
Malo is another amazing latin rock band that was one led by Carlos Santana’s little brother Jorge Santana and Arcelio Garcia. The four original Malo band members were Garcia, Santana, Bean and Tellez. They were first in a band called The Malibus. There were three other founding members; Roy Murray, Richard Spremich and Abel Zarate. These three were a part of a band called Naked Lunch. One of the band’s hit singles has an interesting story behind it; Richard Bean had written it in high school for a girl in his algebra class. One of their biggest hits is Suavecito earned an exceptional number eighteen spot on the 1972 Billboard charts.
Malo has toured extensively and still does today. They recorded a live album with Tierra and El Chicano. This album is known as Latin Legends Live and now the Latin Legends tour with some amazing beats to give their fans. In the album, quite a big chunk of disc one belongs to Malo and disc two to Tierra while El Chicano comes in between. Some familiar tunes from the Latin Legends are Techno Ramba, Ritmo Tropical, Zoot Suit Boogie, In the Mood, Celebrate with Tierra, Have You Seen Her, Memories, Margarita and many others.
Having to own Latin Legends Live tickets means to expect some great energy on stage. You will get to see all three amazing music groups all at once and each with a different flavor to offer. This leaves no reason to miss a chance on some valuable Latin Legends Live tickets.
