Jungle Jack Hanna began to miss his interaction with animals so he made his return to the field in 1978 as the director of the zoo in Columbus. He immediately went about tapping into his extensive knowledge of everything related to animals in order to bring the zoo up to the required standards. Hanna started off introducing new events geared towards educating and entertaining the wider public. His initiatives worked perfectly and soon the zoo began to see witness a rapid increase in attendance figures.
His next step was to generate enough funds to raise the overall standard and quality of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. For that purpose he held discussions with prominent local community leaders and convinced them to contribute towards his project. Jack Hanna’s first big break came in the year 1993. The birth of gorilla twins at the zoo had made headlines which resulted in him being invited to make an appearance on the program Good Morning America. Hanna knew this was the chance to inform the entire country what to do and how to look after animals. Jungle Jack Hanna’s segment was a tremendous success and he has been a regular guest on the show since that day.
Jungle Jack Hanna hosted his own show titled “Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures” from 1993 all the way to 2008. He followed that up with “Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild” between from 2009 to 2010. His latest project “Jack Hanna’s Wild Countdown” began in the year 2011.
Hanna’s reputation had kept on soaring and two years later he landed a spot on The Late Show with David Letterman. It was another huge success which has resulted in frequent appearances on the show in subsequent years.
