Juanes whose real name is Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez was born on 9th August 1972, is a musician from Columbia. He was born in Carolina del Príncipe, Antioquia, Colombia and started playing guitar when he was seven years old. His love for music could be seen from the very beginning as he started experimenting with different forms of music for example with traditional Latin sounds like bachata and tango alongwith Colombian folk music. While growing up Juanes was extremely influnced by metal bands like Metallica.
In the year 1988 he formed a metal band Ekhymosis and released their first album titled Niño Gigante. They relesaed five albums and performed with Ricky Martin, Alejandro Sanz and Aterciopelados. In order to start a solo career he disbanded the group in the year 1998. Juanes was signed by Gustavo Santaolalla for his studio album entitled Un Dia Normal which was relesead in 2002. It became a hit in Latin America. The album’s success was not limited to Latin America only rather it became successful all around the world. It won gold certification in Columbia whereas it was certified platinum and multi platinum in Mexico, Columbia and Spain. It was able to set new records as it remained on Billboard’sTop Latin Album charts for ninety two consecutive weeks. Its single A Dios le Pido topped the charts in twelve countries and remained on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks for 47 consecutive weeks. The album also contained a duet Fotografía with Canadian pop singer Nelly Furtado.
The success of the album lead Juanes to the recording of the remix of Powerless (Say What You Want), Te busqué and Folklore with Nelly Furtado. His albums and songs paved the way for his becoming a popular musician who became known for his outstanding talent through out the world. He won five awards at the 2003 Latin Grammy Awards which included awards for Album of the year, Song of the year and Record of the year. In the year 2004 he released another album titled Mi Sangre (My Blood) and won first position on the Billboard Top Latin Albums. He won numerous Grammy’s and at the 2005 Latin Grammy Awards he won awards for his song Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor, Best Music Video for Volverte a Ver ("To See You Again") and Best Rock Solo Album for Mi Sangre. Apart from performing at concert and live music shows he has also given an outstanding performance at the 2006 FIFA World Cup Final Draw evening and sang La camisa negra at the event.
Alongwith other musicians he performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway that was telecasted in more than 100 countries. In 2008 he released an album called La vida... es un ratico (en vivo). It contained fourteen songs alongwith other songs which were not released previously which included Odio Por Amor (hate for love) and Falsas Palabras (false words). In the year 2010 he gave an appearance in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Concert that further showed his poupularity as his performance was long awaited by the people at large. He was also invited to perform at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

Juanes Announces Amarte Tour
Columbian music artist Juanes has announced the dates for his upcoming North American tour with singer and songwriter Mon Laferte. The trek includes sixteen dates and is scheduled to kick off with a show in Orlando on April 20. It will then visit main cities such as New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago. Joining them on the road as special guest is Caloncho.
Juanes released his sixth studio record titled Mis Planes Son Amarte in May of 2017. It won a Latin Grammy in the category of Best Pop Rock Album.
