The Music of Joyner Lucas
Lucas got involved in the music industry back in 2007, when he began recording under the name G-Storm. After changing his stage name to Future Joyner, the young star started working with his uncle and created a group by the name of “Film Skool Rejekts”. In the same year as its formation, the group released the mixtape, Workprint: The Greatest Mixtape of All Time. This mixtape received a good reception in the music industry and Joyner Lucas began getting noticed.
He released his solo mixtape by the name of Listen 2 Me in 2011. He eventually dropped the name ‘Future’ from his stage name when the rap star Future rose to fame.
He first made it big with his super hit single “Ross Capicchioni”, released in 2015. This single was a part of the singer’s mixtape, Along Came Joyner. Soon after the success of this single, Joyner was signed on to Atlantic Records and he started working on his first project. Released on 16th June 2017, his first work to be released with Atlantic Records was the mixtape titled 508-507-2209. The mixtape turned out to be a big success for the artist as it landed at #7 on the Heatseekers Albums chart on Billboard. The mixtape also contained some of Lucas’ early hit singles such as “Winter Blues”, “Ultrasound” and “I’m Sorry”.
At the end of 2017, Lucas released another musical piece that added more to his fast-rising fame. The single, called “I’m Not Racist” was a quirky track uploaded on his YouTube account.
