But, how has the pop boy band managed to reach to the heights of popularity? Let's take a peek into the journey of the band. They started as a solo project of Nick Jonas who, at the age of six, was referred to a professional show business manager. When he turned 7, he began performing on Broadway. Nick's plays like A Christmas Carol, Annie Get Your Gun, Beauty and the Beast, and Les Miserables amounted to huge applause.
Besides performing in plays, Nick Jonas also took an interest in songwriting. He even co wrote a Christmas tune alongside his father. A few years later, his moving voice had impressed decision makers at Daylight/Columbia Records who called him for a solo album. Nick put his heart and soul into writing original material for the album with help from his two brothers, Kevin and Joe. The siblings' songs wowed the president of Columbia Records, who eventually signed them in 2005. With this deal, the real fun began for them as the trio of siblings collectively utilized their abilities to write lyrics and play music.
In 2006, Jonas Brothers came up with their debut record entitled 'It's about Time'. With the hyper-adrenalized sounds, the album received to mixed reviews but propelled the Brothers to stardom. It's About Time spawned several singles which became massive hits. The album's first single 'Mandy' quickly gained success while its music video peaked at number 4 in MTV's TRL. The single 'Year 3000' was also well received and topped the chart. Despite all the attainment, It's About Time failed to reach wide success and was placed at number 91 in the Billboard Albums chart. Columbia Records dropped the brothers.
Not long after being dropped out of Columbia label, Jonas Brothers were contacted by Hollywood Records who released the band's second album. The following year in 2007, their second effort self-titled album came out, increasing band's critical acclaim. The record proved to be another smash record and sold 69,000 copies. It also beat various artists' soundtrack of 'Hairspray' by hundreds, while going straight to number 5 in Billboard Hot 200 chart. The sophomore album Jonas Brothers spawned tracks like Hold On and SOS to successful chart placements.
The album contained fizzy harmonies, punchy power chords and sweetening-to-the-ears choruses, effectively bouncing off the walls. Within a year, the trio of siblings successfully raised their reputation to be one of musicians worth acknowledged. After releasing Jonas Brothers, the trio heavily toured to sold-out venues in order to promote album. After aggressive promotion, they returned to studios to record their third album which was later called A Little Bit Longer. The album was released in 2008 once again on Hollywood Records and to mixed reviews. Its singles like Burning Up and Video Girl received much acclaim though.
Both second and third albums helped Jonas Brothers become one of the most popular teen-affiliated groups of the 2000s. Following the released of A Little Bit Longer, the boys set out a Burning Up Tour in mid 2008. Their influences include artists like Jackson 5, the Ramones, and the Modern Lovers. Today, the boys not only have sold out tickets of their shows but grace covers of teen magazines and sign for special appearances as well. The Brothers, as young icons, are also booked to make a cameo in Disney's series, 'Hannah Montana'. Besides playing music, they also perform and have appeared the pilot to a fictional television series called JONAS in 2007.
The Jonas Brothers' fourth studio album, Lines Vines and Trying Times is due to release on June 15, 2009.
