Jon B is a Grammy nominated R&B singer and songwriter who gained love for music from his ancestors. His inclination towards music was not a surprise as his father was associated with music while his mother was a concert pianist. His siblings were also much into music and this made him obviously get attracted towards music. Initially he learned keyboard and piano while by the age of 16 he acquired the skill of playing drums and bass. His grandparents once owned a record store which was a great learning venture for him. This is why he greatly inherited the passion for music. It was this exposure to many music forms especially the African-American music that he could distinguish various beats and understand them like no other.
At the age of 15, Jon B made his own band Def IV and he even released his album thus proving his music abilities to the world at such a tender age. In 1995 Jon released his album Bonafide which received much appreciation. Before the release of his album, Jon had been writing songs for Michael Jackson, Toni Braxton and Color me Badd besides many others which was a matter of pride and honor indeed. His album had some of the hit singles which became synonymous with him. His single was also nominated for the Grammy awards and it was nothing less than a big blessing.
In 1997, the second album Cool Relax was released that signified the artistic abilities of Jon B. Cool Relax was also claimed to be the best R&B album of that year with the platinum certification. During his tour to promote the album Cool Relax, Jon B thought of forming a band and thus collaborated his back-up singers. During this time a full album was compiled together but it never released. Only a few singles from the album hit the market.
In 2001 the third album was planned to be released titled Stronger everyday with the most followed single Pleasures U Like. The single from the album Don’t Talk became a super hit and reached number 3 on the US R&B charts. The album gained critical acclaim reaching gold but the poor publicity and incompetent campaigning ditched the efforts. Jon B joined hands with Arsenal Records in 2006 and worked on his new album. He is currently working on his compositions and planning to release Greatest Live Hits album too.
In 2008 the fifth album hit the market. Unfortunately the mismanagement and poor publicity gave a horrible blow to the album and it failed to grab attention. It was due to this that no music video was neither shot nor promoted. Drops of Rain was remixed in 2009 with the featuring of Jonesii. Jon has been working with her for almost ten years and her lead vocals and background can be featured in the song Ride of Our Lives.
Various other projects were undertaken by Jon which include some of his songs with his back singers and a tribute to fallen Marine which is a true depiction of how much committed he is towards his music career.
