Joe Satriani went on his first world tour in 1988 with Mick Jagger, who hired him to play lead guitar. He toured the world again in 1994 with Deep Purple playing lead guitar. During the G3 tour in 1995, Satriani worked with many guitarists including Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Stever Morse and Eric Johnson.

Satriani improvised with the release of Possessed’s EP titled ‘The Eyes of Horror’ which he produced in 1988. He released his album ‘Flying in a Blue Dream’ in 1989. The track titled ‘One Big Rush’ was included in the soundtrack of the film ‘Say Anything……’ and ‘The Forgotten Part’ appeared in a Canadian Labatt Blue commercial in 1993. Nash Bridges used the track ‘Can’t Slow Down’ in a car chase scene.

The album titled ‘The Extremist’ was a huge success in 1992 for Satriani. Tracks from the album were played on many different radio channels. The track ‘Summer Song’ was a huge radio success and it was used by Sony during their Discman campaigns. He signed a multiple solo album deal with Sony after his successful tour with Deep Purple.

The G3 tour started in 1996 during which Satriani performed with Eric Johnson and Vai. Many famous guitarists have performed in G3 which continued periodically since 1996. He recorded and released the album ‘Crystal Palace’ followed by his electronica album ‘Engines of Creation’. He released a live album titled ‘Live in San Francisco’ in 2000 on DVD and CD.

Satriani has released experimental album and continued this with the release of ‘Strange Beautiful Music’ in 2002. In 2004, he released ‘Is There Love in Space’ which included worldwide hit tracks. He toured India in 2005 for the first time and released his two live albums ‘Satriani Live!’ and ‘Super Colossal’ in 2006. The rock guitarist became an official supporter of the non-profit organization Little Kids Rock.

After signing with Epic/Legacy Recordings, he re-released his album ‘Surfing with the Alien’ in 2007. The two disc set included his never seen before live performance in 1988 at the Montreux Jazz Festival. He formed his own band called Chickenfoot and released their self-titled album in 2009. Their second album titled ‘Bigfoot’ reached position #9 during its first week of release.

Satriani is a master of many different guitar playing techniques and is called a guitar virtuoso due to this. His two handed tapping and legato riffs are famous worldwide.
