Joe Bonamassa is a New Hartford-born blues singer who started performing in 1989. Born in 1977, Joe was bound to be passionate about guitars as his parents owned a guitar shop. He began learning the instrument at the young age of four and by twelve he was seen serving as an opening act for the iconic B.B. King. Even though Joe grew up in the heart of America i.e. New York, he often describes as being pulled towards Irish and British blues sounds, rather than the typical American blues. He cites Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck Group and Rory Gallagher as some of his earliest influences. Joe also states three albums as having the greatest impact on developing his music style. These include ‘The Beano Album’ by Eric Clapton with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, ‘Texas Flood’ by Stevie Ray Vaughan and ‘Goodbye’ by Cream.
In 2000 Joe Bonamassa signed a contract with the Medalist Records to release his debut studio album. Titled ‘A New Day Yesterday,’ the record was named after a song of the same name by Jethro Tull. With a four out of five star rating by Allmusic, the album ranked ninth on the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart. The blues singer has released ten studio albums out of which seven have topped the Top Blues Albums chart. Apart from this he has also released 11 live albums and 2 collaborations, out of which 6 have reached the top 3 in the US. To watch the singer perform live, get Joe Bonamassa New York tickets.
