This will be the first time that the three most important arts and educational institutions from Miami will be coming together to display a unique and integrated program. This music event is also rendered to be amongst the special shows during the YoungArts Week of 2012. This will be a show where the country’s leading young musicians, performing arts and literary will collaborate to show their works in the city of Miami.
 
Jazz and the Philharmonic will also exhibit world renowned classical and jazz mega stars, along with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra which represents the University of Miami. The event will also feature the Grammy Award winning trumpeter, Artistic Director, 1981 YoungArts alumnus and film composer from the Henry Mancini Institute, named Terence Blanchard. Dave Grusin who is one of the performers in the line-up of the event is one of the most successful producers, performers, arrangers, record label executives, composers and also a bandleader of recent times. As an acclaimed pianist, he is known for the creating the synthesis and smooth detailing end of a jazz composition.
 
Bobby McFerrin who will also be performing at the Jazz and the Philharmonic live event is an established cappella as well as jazz vocalist, conductor and vocal improviser. McFerrin is famous for his hit song of 1988 titled as “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”. McFerrin has successfully won ten Grammy Awards.
 
Terrence Blanchard who is a part of the line-up of the show is now among of the leading bass players, recording artists, bandleaders, orchestrators of movie tracks and is also a leader in the post-bop community.
 
Mark O’Connor who has been playing and creating great music from his early childhood days is also a member of the line-up at this remarkable event. He has previously been a sideman for the acclaimed jazz violinist named Stephane Grappelli and has worked on 450 albums so far. He has done a few associated acts with Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton as well as Linda Ronstadt.
 
Jazz and the Philharmonic will also be featuring Chick Corea who is one of the most prominent jazz musicians since the decade of the 1960’s.
