Born in 1966, Jason began to play drums when he was only four. He had a small role in the movie The Song Remains the Same, playing drums along with his father. At the age of seventeen, Jason formed his first band by the name Airrace. Later in 1985, he got associated with Virginia Wolf and while supporting the firm, he produced a couple of albums and toured around the US. Three years later, Jason joined forces with former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page for his album and successive tour Outstrider. The same year, he performed in New York at Atlantic Records’ 40th anniversary concert while standing besides three surviving Led Zeppelin members. The following year, he was invited to make a special guest appearance at the prestigious Moscow Music Peace Festival where he performed along with several prominent rock acts of the day. In 1989, he formed his band Bonham and released an album called The Disregard of Timekeeping. However, following a short period of three years, the group was disbanded, though Jason continued to focus on his session work, making regular guest appearances. He drummed for Muddy Water Blues: A tribute to Muddy Waters by Paul Rodgers that went on to receive a Grammy nomination. He soon revived his band with a fresh lead singer, Marti Frederiksen, and changed the name of the band to Motherland. Together they released their first album Peace 4 in 1994. Even though he had his own music band, he continued to play for local tribute bands such as Fred Zeppelin and Led Zepagain.
At the induction of Led Zeppelin into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, Jason represented his father alongside his sister. He soon came out with his tribute album In the Name of my Father, featuring various songs by Led Zeppelin. The revenue generated by the album was given to charity. This was followed by another album called When You See the Sun. Jason was also invited to play drums for the hard rock band UFO. In 2001, Jason came starred in the flick Rock Star in which he played the character of the drummer A.C. Apart from playing the role, Jason also contributed to the soundtrack of Rock Star. He was also featured in the VH1 reality show alongside Even Seinfield, Ted Nugent, Scott Ian and Sebastian Back and later formed a band by the name of Damnocracy for a show in which the group was required to spend twelve days in a house and compose music. The drummer also played live with Foreigner for a period of three to four years. Sometime later in 2009, Jason joined the Black Country Communion group and recorded music with big names like Joe Bonamassa, Derek Sherinian and Glenn Hughes.
In the year 2010, Jason formed Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience to pay a live tribute to his legendary father and the iconic rock band of the 70s. The show, though primarily a tribute band, also provides insight into the life of the celebrated drummer John Bonham, with Jason sharing his father’s stories and memories and creating an air of nostalgia.
The critically acclaimed drummer has performed alongside iconic figures of rock music and continues to enchant the audiences with his fabulous skills and performances. If Led Zeppelin were ever to play again, then it goes without saying that Jason Bonham would definitely be one of its key players, for he delivers as good as, if not better, than his super-talented father John Bonham. Jason Bonham tickets offer you some hours of pure ecstasy as John Boham junior makes your heart beat like the thump of his drum.
