Rolf Jacob Sartorius is an Oklahoma native who was raised in Virginia. Sartorius started acting in musicals when he was 7 and soon discovered his love for performing arts but was bullied by people. This led to him sharing his first video, regarding anti-bullying, on Vine in 2014. The video went viral and he soon started to find fame on social media. Jacob then began to post more videos on Vine almost on a regular basis which helped him develop his fan following.
Later in the same year, he made an account on Musical.ly where he started uploading his lip-syncing videos and began to attract more followers. Sartorius soon became one of the app’s top stars as he was followed by more than fourteen million fans. This encouraged him to pursue a career in the music industry and he later signed a recording contract with the T3 Music Group. His first single, Sweatshirt was released in the summer of 2016. The song climbed to the tenth spot on Spotify Velocity and entered the Canadian Hot 100 at the 81st position. It also charted on the Billboard 200 at the 90th spot. He then performed Sweatshirt live for the first time during a Magcon tour in Baltimore.
After the release of Sweatshirt, Jacob Sartorius recorded his second single, Hit or Miss which was released in 2016. The song received success in New Zealand and reached the 72nd and the 76th spots on the Billboard 200 and the Canadian Albums chart respectively. Jacob then came out with his third single, All My Friends on his fourteenth birthday. It peaked at the twenty ninth spot on Spotify Velocity. The song’s official video was released on YouTube in the fall of 2016 which has been viewed over three million times. Following the release of his third single, Jacob went on a, ‘All My Friends Tour’ with names like, Baby Ariel, Johnny Orlando and The Bomb Digz.
Once his tour concluded, Sartorius released his fourth single, Last Text in 2016 which landed at the eighth spot on Spotify Velocity. The song gave him more exposure. He later announced the release date of his debut extended play titled, ‘The Last Text.’ The EP finally hit the shelves in 2017 and featured four new songs, By Your Side, Bingo, Love Me Back and Jordans besides his recent singles on the track list.
