This album featured songs written by McMahon that dated as far back as 2002 and was mostly a solo project for him. He recorded the album in his own studio and even spent his own money in order to get the album produced before he was signed to Maverick Records. The record deal came just as he was mixing and putting final touches to the album’s last song. A large promotional campaign and album launch was planned but could not go through as McMahon contracted leukemia and had to go into chemotherapy straight away. Many fans thought this was the end of Jacks Mannequin but McMahon wanted the record company to go ahead with the launch of the album without any promotion and was sure that he would recover.
 
The idea of launching the album without promotion was accepted and the album managed to debut at number 37 on the US music charts even though it had almost no promotion. The reason the album did so well is because the quality of the music and lyrics struck a chord with listeners and critics alike. The album was a critical success and McMahon recovered from his cancer to join the band once again and Jacks Mannequin went on tour to promote their 2007 album ‘The Glass Passenger’.
 
The Glass Passenger was the most successful album by Jacks Mannequin as it hit number 8 on the music charts and truly announced the band’s arrival on to the music scene. The album spawned a large number of hit singles and led to the band getting a huge fan following. Jacks Mannequin is loved for its heart rendering lyrics that talk about personal feelings and relationships. The compositions are pure classic pop rock with thumping rock drums lifting up the tempo. The vocals by the lead singer Andrew McMahon are what truly make the band’s music special as his youthful voice captures the imaginations of all fans.
