Date & Time

Jack Johnson, son of the famous surfer Jeff Johnson, has been chasing the waves since he was five years old. His athletic body and muscular built is evident of how much he invested in his passion of surfing. However, the destiny had planned to earn more fame and fan following through music. While he was recovering from the injuries that gave him 52 stitches in the forehead and broke his dream of becoming the champion surfer like his dad, he decided to use his energies in filmmaking. His passion for surfing is now being served with surf photography, direction, production and obviously music. His fans wonder from where such serene melodies reveal upon him when he has been into such extreme sports of surfing. Well, despite his music inspiration, Johnson’s work sounds both original and unique.
Jack Johnson had been playing guitar since the age of 14 and wrote some songs in his college days but he had not planned to become a professional singer.

His acoustic string notes and mellow voice was discovered by G. Love. Love convinced him to record "Rodeo Clown" for his album Philadelphonic, and Johnson realized that singing could be one of the ways to cater his varying talents. He has been inspired by the music gurus like Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Otis Redding, Nick Drake, Jimi Hendrix, Ben Harper and The Beatles. Johnson’s demo songs lured J.P Plunier, the producer for Ben Harper, to produce the debut album with him. Brushfire Fairytales, Johnson’s first album was released in February, 2001.

In December 2002, after the release of his first album, Johnson focused on his documentary The September Sessions and sung the song "Pirate Looks At 40". This 30 min long surf video Rob Machado, Kelly Slater, Shane Dorian and Jack Johnson. The September Sessions won much critical appreciation and public applaud along with the poll award for the best film of the year by the Surfer Magazine. Johnson is known for doing his work with complete focus, this is the reason that his albums have been released with regular intervals. Once he was done with his surf documentary, Johnson shifted his attention to the second album, On and On. The album was released in May 2003 and held the 3rd spot on the Top Internet Charts in 2003 and was among the top 3 Billboard 200 for the year 2004.

Johnson had no intentions of becoming a singer and his music contains this expression but what’s amazing is that his songs still sound way more entertaining and pleasing than many serious singers. After the release of his second album, Johnson moved back to his passion of surf photography and filming. His third album, In Between Dreams, released in March 2005is his most chic album so far. This album contains the aura of summer and its cozy starry nights. The track list of In Between Dreams includes "Banana Pancakes", "Better Together", "Sitting, Wishing, Waiting", "Breakdown", "Staple It Together" and "Do You Remember". As of 2010, he has released produced several sheet music and five studio albums which include.
