With several singles reaching the Top 10 on the Latin charts of the US, J. Balvin has made his mark nationwide among the Hispanic community. The thirty-something is a renowned reggaeton singer in Colombia with a fan base stretching along the length of the Andes.
J. Balvin made his debut into the reggaeton music scene with his studio album Real which was released in 2009. But before the album, his single “Ella Me Cautivo” had familiarized him to the US audience by charting at number thirty five on the Billboard Latin Tropical Airplay chart.
Two years later he released his second album, El Negocio, which was a huge success in Colombia and Latin America. Since then, he has added a trio of studio albums and a mixtape to his discography. He has twelve singles to his name and he has appeared in ten music videos so far.
In spring 2012, Balvin released the single “Yo Te Lo Dije,” which charted atop the music charts in his home country. It became the lead to his latest and third studio album, La Familia, which hit the shelves a year and a half later in fall 2013.
Before the album was released, Balvin charted three more singles, “Tranquila,” “Sola” and “6 AM.” The last single featured Farruko and landed atop the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks and Latin Rhythm Airplay charts. Upon release, the album peaked in at number ten on the Top Latin Albums and at number one on the Latin Rhythm Albums charts. Balvin reissued the album with the title La Familia B Sides which contains his top-charting and acclaimed single “Ay Vamos.”

For 2014, Balvin toured as the opening act for Enrique Iglesias’ ‘Sex and Love Tour’. He performed with The King of Latin Pop and renowned rapper Pitbull.
In 2015, Balvin is now out for his first headlining tour that will take him to many cities in the US. He will be joined by the emerging singer-songwriter and rapper Becky G who will co-headline as a guest at all venues. The 2015 tour will kick off at the James L. J Balvin releases a new song in collaboration with Anitta
2017 has been a big year for both J Balvin and Anitta. Now the two of them are collaborating. They have come out with a single titled Downtown that has set the music industry abuzz. The song has crossed three million views on YouTube and has topped Brazil’s Spotify chart. In an interview Anitta had this to say about J Balvin, “Working with Balvin is incredible. We worked together before, but I’m happy we made this song. He’s one of my favorite artists, so this was an amazing experience.”

The Latin Grammy Award winner has announced his, ‘Energia Tour’ and he will be starting the trek by playing a gig at the EagleBank Arena in Fairfax on September 14th. Balvin will then be rocking the stage in cities like, Detroit, Rosemont, Houston and San Jose before he ends his tour by performing a show at Miami’s American Airlines Arena on October 13th.
