Intocable is a band that was formed in 1993. It originated in Zapata, Texas. This is a small town in Zapata County with a population of around 7000 people. Intocable was the brainchild of two friends namely drummer Rene Martinez and lead singer Ricky Munoz. Other founding members were bassist Silvestre Rodriguez rhythm guitarist Jose Angel Farias and guitarist Juan J Gonzalez. In 1999 while going for a tour to a city in Mexico, Intocable suffered an accident resulting in the deaths of Silvestre, Jose Farias and band manager Jose Gonzalez. The other members also faced injuries and were bed ridden for some weeks in a local hospital. The remaining band members started to perform again after six months. The current lineup consists of Munoz, Rene, percussionist Sergio Serna, backing vocalist and bajo sexton Johnny Rosas, bassist Felix Salinas and group motivator Jose Juan Hernandez. T

he band is currently signed with Good I Music but in the past they have been attached with nig names like EMI Latin and EMI International. In 2011 the band made history by becoming the first Tejano, Norteno music group that performed at the very famous and gigantic Dallas Cowboys Stadium. The group performed live during halftime of a game that was being played between Washington redskins and Dallas Cowboys. They have also performed at the Reliant Stadium in Houston.

Intocable has gained immense fame and now they are considered to be an authority on Tejano and Norteno genres of music. Many upcoming Tejano groups and artists cite Intocable as their major influence. Tejano is also popularly known as Tex-Mex. it originated in Texas and it was primarily a form of music developed by Mexican-American people living in and around Texas. Some famous artists that perform Tejano include La Mafia, Mazz, Selena and Elsa Garcia. Norteno is a form of Mexican music that makes use of instruments like bajo sexton and the accordion. Ramon Ayala, Nuevo Leon and Los Tucanes de Tijuana are popular names in this genre.

The debut album by Intocable was released in 1993 that was titled Simplemente…Intocable. Some other albums that have impressed the audience are Fuego Eterno (1994), Intocable (1998), Suenoa (2003), La Historia (2003), Nuestro Destino Estaba Escrito (2003) and Crossroads: Cruce de Caminos (2006). The band during a career of twenty years has been nominated eight Grammy Awards out of which it has won two in the category of Best Norteno Album for Classic and Best Mexican Mexican-American Album for Intimamente. In 2012 the band was able to win three Premio Lo Nuestro Awards For Norteno Artists of the Year, Regional Mexican Album of the Year and Regional Mexican Group or Duo of the Year. It has also received two Latin Grammy Awards, one American Music Award and one Billboard Music Award nomination.
