Iliza Shlesinger Tickets
Iliza Shlesinger is one of the funniest women in comedy right now. She was the first woman and youngest contestant to win NBC’s “The Last Comic Standing” in 2008. Since then, she has gone on to record and release three Netflix Comedy specials and is currently on her standup tour titled “Iliza: The Confirmed Kills Tour”. Her comedic material stems from her own brand of feminism, one that holds women accountable and makes men a part of the conversation about women. The 34-year old is achieving landmarks and is considered a significant voice in contemporary comedy. Iliza Shlesinger tickets are in high demand for her stops at numerous venues across the country. Iliza Shlesinger feels she has reached a whole new level in 2017. She has been signed onto her own late-night show Truth & Liza something she has wanted to do for a very long time. The show is set to begin on Freeform, previously known as ABC Family. The thirty-four year old is joining a relatively recent and gradually growing line of female late-night hosts, with Samantha Bee and Chelsea Handler already running successful, female-run late night shows. Shlesinger believes this is a crucial step forward in lessening the divide between spaces for men and women in comedy.
Shlesinger started out in the early 2000s as a standup comedian in comedy clubs around Los Angeles. She was recognized and picked up for the NBC reality show, The Last Comic Standing in 2008, a competition she went on to win, crowning herself the first female comedian and the youngest person to win the esteemed show.
She has released a book titled “Girl Logic: The Genius and the absurdity” and is on a stand-up tour in support of it. Shlesinger caught up in some controversy as the book was initially being published by Weinstein books, associated with the disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, but Shlesinger has denied any knowledge of the alleged misconduct, even stating that she has never met the former owner of the company and absolutely condemns his actions. The book has been published instead by Hachette Book Group.
Iliza Shlesinger’s comedy relies on social commentary. However, her commentary is free from judgment and preaching. Shlesinger is particularly driven by women’s self-esteem and creates patterns to allow people to understand why certain ideas of femininity are reinforced and accepted by women themselves. She attempts to decipher these patterns and then leave them for the audience to judge and generate an opinion about. These jokes are a means of presenting digestible and understandable notions of femininity for not just women but also men, “My career is a love letter to women. But without men listening you can’t have feminism. If there are no men participating in this thing we call feminism, it’s just a bunch of women yelling at each other.” – Shlesinger, L.A. Times
At the same time, she tries to change the direction from gender centric roles to more specific things. For example, on her latest tour she draws a parallel between present-day grandparents who have fought in the World Wars and probably killed fifty people but are still addressed as “cute” or “adorable” by their thirty-something year old grandchildren. Therefore, despite being driven by gender stereotypes, Shlesinger’s material is by no means limited to it.
Iliza: The Confirmed Kills Tour
In 2017, Iliza is promoting her newly finished book “Girl Logic” while also touring her acclaimed Netflix special standup show “The Confirmed Kills”. She has booked theaters all over the country and Iliza Shlesinger tickets for these shows which are available now. Her show contains original scripted material which was developed over a considerable period of time. At the same time, it also grapples with contemporary issues surrounding women in comedy, particularly the urgency to create a safe environment for female comics. Shlesinger’s comedy is funny, quirky, a champion of slapstick and full of keen, critical observation about socially classified groups. The show is a double-whammy; gives you a good laugh and something to think about in between the bouts of laughter.
