What to Expect? – The Artists of the iHeart 80s 103.7 Birthday Bash
Let’s take a look at what to expect from this year’s Birthday Bash lineup and why you most definitely need to get your hands on the Iheart 80s 103 7 Birthday Bash tickets.
Boy George: This British singer is known for his soulful and strong voice along with his provocative fashion sense. He initially came to the attention of British and American audiences with the group Culture Club, where he was the lead singer, between the years 1982 till 1986. Thanks to some really outrageous music, along with Boy George’s heavy makeup and notable persona, the group managed to create a unique image of itself in the MTV videos era.
A Flock of Seagulls: Known for their hit single “I Ran (So Far Away)”, A Flock of Seagulls is known as one of the most famous groups from the new wave era. Originating from Liverpool, the pop act is remembered more for their funky teased hairstyles and their parade infectious hits.
The Romantics: The Romantics sprang out of the early 70s pop founders, such as the Raspberries and Big Star. Their high energy music had a huge influence of their Detroit forefathers with songs such as “Talking in your Sleep”, “One in a Million”, “When I Look Into Your Eyes” and “Rock You Up”.
Farrington & Mann: The biggest commercial success for the band was their 1988 single “The Promise”, which was When in Rome’s biggest commercial success and the only claim to fame. When in Rome’s Clive Farrington, Michael Floreale and Andrew Mann initially started out in a Manchester band called Leisure.
Animotion: Hitting the top ten in the beginning of 1985, with their cold and catchy number, “Obsession”, Animotion took synth-pop to a whole new level in the mid-80s. Following that, the band faced a tough time and had a mildly successful run with their single “Let Him Go”. But with singles such as “Room to Move”, “I Want You”, “Calling it Love” and “Anxiety”, the band managed to make their way back into the hearts of their fans.
Tiffany: The teen queen of the late ‘80s, Tiffany scored several big bubblegum pop hits. She also helped pave the way for the decade’s highly successful teenybopper band called the New Kids on the Block. Born in 1971 in Oklahoma, Tiffany showed her interest in music from a very young age, though initially she showed interest in performing country and western songs, as opposed to pop hits. She was eventually discovered and turned into the pop star that she is today.
Tommy Tutone: Tommy Tutone was a power pop band in the early 80’s, comprising of the vocalist Tommy Heath and guitarist Jim Keller. Their first single, “Angel Say No” got minor success but the subsequent “867-5309/Jenny” was the song that got the duo on the top of the charts. The single peaked in 1982 and hit number four, and went gold soon after.
Nu Shooz: Nu Shooz is a jazz-funk band that was formed in 1979 by guitarist John Smith. They managed to create a name for themselves in the industry, thanks to singles such as “I Can’t Wait”, “Point of No Return”, Don’t Let Me Be The One”, “Should I Say Yes?” and “Lost Your Number”. This jazz-funk band released its independent album in 1982, titled “Can’t Turn It Off”.
