How did ‘I Am They’ begin their journey?
‘I Am They’ is a Christian band that was formed initially as a worship ministry. The group started out under the name “Solomon’s Porch”, which was at that time meant to be a one-time gathering for worship. But after the group received a very positive response at the Calvary Chapel in Carson City, they decided to make this a bi-monthly worship gathering for the local community.
Soon after this, the group began attracting large-scale attention along with offers from local Christian concert promoters, Ian Bullis and Jonathan Velasquez. They changed their name to ‘I Am They’ to ensure there would be no confusion with the worship group. The band was then signed on to Provident Label Group in 2013 and began making music in early 2014.
Who are the band members of ‘I Am They’?
Currently, the group comprises five members. These include Jon McConnell on vocals, keys and guitars, Matthew Hein on vocals, banjo, guitar, mandolin and dobro, Justin Shinn on keys, concert drum, mandolin, banjo and organ, Abbie Parker on vocals and harmonium and Sara Palmer on drums and percussion. This group previously included other members as well such as Bobby Stiehler, Stephanie Kulla, Adam Palmer and Raul Aguilar Jr.
Over the years, this talented bunch of individuals has made quite a name for themselves, playing the kind of music that truly appeals to the soul. Their prowess with so many different musical instruments has helped them set themselves apart from others in the same genre.
The Music of ‘I Am They’
I Am They released their self-titled debut album with Yackland Studios in Nashville. Produced by Jason Ingram and Jonathan Smith, the record was released in late January 2015 and was well-received by the local communities.
A few months after the release of this album, the group began touring as part of the “Rock & Worship Roadshow”. They were joined by other Christian rock bands on this tour such as MercyMe, Group 1 Crew and Crowder. After this tour wrapped up, I Am They embarked on another one with Matt Maher, on his Saints and Sinners Tour.
Thanks to this touring activity, the group managed to generate quite a buzz in the Christian music industry. In August of 2015, they even received a Dove Award nomination in the category of New Artist of the Year.
The band’s most recent work was released in March 2018 and is called Trial and Triumph. The album has been performing well on the American Christian music charts, reaching the 23rd spot. If you want to check out this latest bunch of songs by I Am They, you have the perfect chance to do so, with these I Am They Tickets, available now.
The group is expected to hit the road this fall with a few other Christian rock groups and you would not want to miss this. They will be playing some of their old classics, along with songs from the new record.
Other popular songs you can expect to hear on these fall concerts include “From the Day”, “We Are Yours” and “Make A Way” from their debut album. And songs to look out for from Trial and Triumph include “Crown Him” and “My Feet Are on the Rock”. All these songs have been performing quite well on the Christian music charts and are some of the most soulful worship records you are going to come across! So gear up, for a musical night unlike any other!
