The Tanglewood Festival Chorus will be opening the show with "O Come, O Come Emmanuel". They will be then joined by the Boston Pops who will perform the amazing "Christmas Canticles". The event will then progress with Adam, Dwight-Courage and Clappeau’s "O Holy Night" that is performed by Kathryn Skemp, who is well known for engaging her live audiences with her heavenly operatic and vocal skills. She has been compared to Sarah Brightman and is as appealing as the music she sings. If there is a word that can truly describe her form of music, it would be "extraordinary". The show carries on with many other performers playing the most delightful holiday-themed music in an event that is going to be unforgettable for sure.
A reading of "Thoughts on Hanukkah" takes place courtesy Rabbi Avi Weiss and Drey Dreydelekh, as well as a version of "Hanukkah Candle Blessings" by Jacbson and Binder. There are several solos that are seen being performed at the show. You will get to experience the concert maestro of the event playing the violin as though it is a fiddle. This performance is truly breathtaking. A pairing of an excerpt from the famous book, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl as well as "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" takes place live that is simply magical. There is a dark and rather gloomy, yet melodious sound that follows when the excerpts are read. This melody is further enhanced by the magical solo performances from a harpist. The entire experience of the Holiday Pops is nothing less than being completely enchanting.
The second half of the show is a bit more conventional than the first half as there are many upbeat musical pieces such as "A Merry Little Sing-Along" and "Sleigh Ride" that are performed. Many a time, the audience is invited to sing along with a brilliant arrangement of some of the greatest and famous Christmas songs. Songs such as "A Visit from St. Nicholas" and "T’was the Night Before Christmas" are usually performed in the second half, keeping the audience enthralled. Other songs like "The Man with the Bag", "Santa Medley", "Santa Baby" and "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" are bound to amaze the audiences with the increasingly flirtatious lyrics, making you believe in the fact that Holiday Pops creates a fun-filled atmosphere for their audience as much as they enjoy performing in the event.
The entire evening at this event is going to be spectacular and will be filled with music and humorous live entertainment that you will remember for a longtime to come. This is one of those shows at which you will have a ball of a time. Although the orchestra is formal, they are not uptight. They know how to make their audience have fun and celebrate the holiday spirit while creating joy. With your Holiday Pops tickets in your hands, we vouch for the fact that you will experience a delightful evening with some of the greatest holiday hits being performed live in an entertaining show that also injects great humor to keep its audience captivated from the moment the curtain is raised right till the end of the show. The best thing about the event is that it is meant for people of all ages. So you can enjoy this show with your family, friends and loved ones and relish in the holiday spirit.
