Herman Edwards played his career best game in a match between Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets. Eagles were running out of time while Jets were leading by 17-12. When the opportunity struck and the ball came loose, Edwards managed to catch it, returning it for touchdown which enabled Eagles to win by 19-17. The game is famously known as the “The Miracle of the Meadows” within Philadelphia and New Yorkers simply refer to it as “The Fumble.” It is also recalled by many as the “Herman Edwards Play.” In that match Edwards made an American football history not to be forgotten.
 
After Edwards retired from football, he took up the job of defensive assistant in San Jose State University.  Later he became defensive backs coach of Kansas City Chiefs and kept the position for four years. Despite the fact that he never had any such experience, in 2001 Edwards was hired as New York Jets head coach. During the time he was Jets’ head coach; he made 30-42 record that included a 2-3 record in playoffs as well. Another record was 5-15 stretch in his last twenty seasons. He left the club after four years and in September of 2006 was made the coach of Kansas City Chiefs.
 
Herman Edwards retired from his position as head coach as well and joined the famous sports channel ESPN as one of the expert analysts on US football teams.
