This time too, Happy Together Tour 2011 has, as always, an impressive list of performers like ‘The Turtles’, ‘The Grass Roots’, ‘The Association’, ‘The Buckinghams’ and ‘Mark Lindsay’. It is only appropriate here to have a few words on each in the proceeding paragraphs.
‘Eugene, Oregon’, born Mark Lindsay, is most famous for being a former lead vocalist and saxophonist of ‘Paul Revere & the Raiders’. Lindsay is a child prodigy who has been singing ever since his teenage years. While still in high school, he worked the local music scene and often participated in local talent contests. Being a gifted musician, he would often won those contests and it was during one of these contests that he met Paul Revere, with whom he would later form the famous band, Paul Revere & the Raiders.
The band that wears war fatigues was noticed by the famous Dick Clark and soon Paul Revere & the Raiders started to perform for Clark’s Where the Action Is, on regular basis. Through this show Lindsay became America’s teen heartthrob in 1960’s. After he left the band, Lindsay went on to have an even more successful solo career with albums like Video Dreams, Twas the Night Before Christmas, Live at Rick’s Café, and The Last Midnight Ride.
An American rock band from Los Angeles, California, ‘The Turtles’ is most famous for its 1967 mega-hit, "Happy Together". The band, which is led by vocalists Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan, has produced several Top 40 hits, like the cover version of Bob Dylan’s "It Ain’t Me Babe". In addition, "You Baby", and "Let Me Be", were also their chartbusting singles.
They initially started off as a surf-rock band which called itself, The Tyrtles. However, the deliberate misspellings did not survive for too long and the band started to be called The Turtles, soon. The band broke all expectations when their single, "Happy Together", reached no. 1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967, replacing the Beatles’ "Penny Lane". In addition, the band went to release several other famous studio albums like, Shell Shock, Chalon Road, Wooden Head, Turtle Soup, The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands, to name a few.
‘The Grass Roots’ are godfathers of pop rock, psychedelic rock, psychedelic folk and folk rock. The band which has to its credit two gold albums and one gold single has produced numerous chartbusting singles. The group which sold more than twenty million records all over the world has the unique distinction of being on the Billboard charts for 307 weeks consecutively.
The founding members of the band were two songwriters, Steve Barri and P.F. Sloan. Presently, the band consists of Joe Dougherty, Larry Nelson, Dusty Hanvey and Mark Dawson. Some of the most memorable albums of the band are: Alotta’ Mileage, Move Along, Their 16 Greatest Hits, and More Golden Grass.
The Association is one of the best sunshine pop bands to have emerged from California. The band which led the ‘Monterey Pop Festival’ of 1967, is still going strong, releasing hits, one after the other and continues to follow an extensive touring schedule. You must have heard their "Never My Love", "Windy", and "Cherish", as they were all certified gold, each selling well over one million copies, worldwide!
In addition to The Association, ‘The Buckinghams’, too, will be performing as part of Happy Together Tour 2011. The Buckinghams, is a rock and roll group from Chicago, Illinois, famous for singles like, "Back in Love Again", "Susan", "Hey Baby, They’re Playing Our Song", "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy", "Don’t You Care", "Lawdy Miss Clawdy", and "Kind of a Drag".
Now all of these greats will be performing together, just for you. This does not happen every day! This is not just another tour or another concert! It is unique and special! So be a part of this musical journey and in turn feel special by buying Happy Together Tour Tickets now!
