Twenty years is a quite a long time in a band’s or solo artist’s life. There are many examples of music bands that weren’t able to last more than one or two albums. The band also features visiting members like Kris MacFarlane, the drummer, guitarist Murray Foster and Moxy Fruvous. Great Big Sea has taken home Entertainer of the Year Award consecutively from 1996 to 2000. The band has also been nominated for a number of Juno Awards. In 2003, the band’s first live concert’s DVD was released in America and in Europe in 2004. Another concert DVD came out in 2006 titled Courage & Patience & Grit.
 
The band’s song “Oh Yea” has been used by a Canadian TV series Republic of Doyle as its theme track. The Great Big Sea will be kicking off its twentieth anniversary tour in 2013 starting in California and will cover sixteen cities. The Hard and The Easy was released by the band that was nominated for a Juno Award. It blends the modern pop with the Newfoundland traditional music. The record is described as vital, heartfelt and crowd pleasing. The fans have been enjoying their music ever since the self-titled first album was released in 1993. All the albums by the ensemble are certified gold and multi-platinum.
 
The album “Hard and The Easy” was a big hit. It was described as a straightforward and solid acoustic record of local and traditional songs and features multi-instrumentalists Alan Doyle, Bob Hallett and Sean McCann as well as is a logical progression.
