Gloria Trevi is an acclaimed Mexican pop-rock singer-songwriter who has produced many hits across Latin American and Spanish charts. She rose to prominence in the nineties with her debut studio offering Que Hago Aqui?, which topped the Mexican charts. In the next five years, the artist continued to gain more success with four other albums, all of which became majorly popular among young girls in particular. Trevi’s blooming career came to a sudden halt in 2000 due to certain controversies because of which she even had to go to prison. Trevi returned to the music scene right after the controversy ended and has since issued three new studio offerings called Coma Nace El Universo, Una Rosa Blu and Gloria. All three albums appeared on top position on Latin Pop Albums, Top Latin Albums and Mexican charts while the latter most became a number one. Between 2004 and 2011, the singer released more than ten singles of which seven made it on the US Billboard Hot Latin Songs charts. These include Me Rio de Ti, Cinco Minutos, Psicofonia, Estrella de la Manana, En Media de la Tempestad and Todos Me Miran, among which the latter marked her biggest hit to date. Trevi is soon to begin her next world tour, making Gloria Trevi tickets a sought-after treat among pop and rock fans.
Gloria Trevi spent her early childhood years in Monterrey, Mexico. She moved to Mexico city at the age of twelve to pursue a singing career and was soon introduced to future manager, Sergio Andrade. Trevi had some dancing and singing experience from her performances on the street and was quite certain about making it on the music front. By 1985, she had become a member of the short-lived Mexican girl band ‘Boquitas Pintadas’. The group disbanded by the end of three years, at which point Trevi approached Andrade for the recording and production of her debut solo album Que Hago Aqui. The album was released by mid 1989, spawning the chart-topping hit, Dr. Psiquiatra. This record was followed by her second studio offering Tu Angle de le Guarda that became an even bigger success. The offering produced the single Pelo Suelto that reached the number one spot on charts across Spain and Latin America. Trevi issued her next album in 1992, called Me siento tan sola with the single Zapatos Viejos that climbed up to the sixth spot on the US Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs. All these albums were recorded as well as produced in Los Angeles and proved to be quite pivotal in Trevi’s initial success. By 1993, she was nominated for a Lo Nuestro Award in the category of Female Pop Artist for the Year.
Music channel VH1 has given Trevi the title of Super Diva of Mexican Pop, while many of her fans consider her to be the Mexican Madonna. The artist has been determined to recreate her music image and revive her career following her release from prison. In 2004, she released the album Como Nace el Universo that charted to the number one spot on Mexican charts while appearing among the top five on the Billboard Top Heatseekers, Latin Pop Albums, and Top Latin Album. In 2005, the singer announced a twenty-three city trek across the US, which turned out to be quite successful in rebooting her musical path. After having won much support from fans, she released a live album of her tour recordings in 2006 called La Trayectoria. The album reached the third spot on Mexican charts while appearing on number eight on Latin Pop Albums charts.
Over the years, Trevi has released several recompiled albums as well, the more recent among which include the Deluxe Edition of Una Rosa Blu, Lo escencial de Trevi and 6 Super Hits.
