By combining the elements of grunge and power pop music genres, Gin Blossoms emerged during the 1990s as the young vivacious torchbearers of alternate rock. The band was immensely popular amongst the younger audience of the 90s. Tracks like ‘Lost Horizons’ and ‘Not only Numb’ embodied a sense of disillusionment which came across as communicative, relatable as well as comforting to the feelings of confusion and heartbreaks experienced by the young generation.
Twenty years later, the rockers may not be that young anymore but they have certainly sustained their bond with their fans. This gifted and effortless ability of the musicians comes through their concerts and other public occasions. Music aficionados will be delighted to know that cheap Gin Blossoms tickets are now easily accessible at convenient locations/sites.
Founded in the year 1987, Gin Blossoms was the number one local band of their hometown Tempe. The band presented a distinct lighter side to alternate rock which proved to be a breath of fresh air amidst the dominating sounds of hair bands and grunge stars of the time. Gin Blossoms garnered considerable attention during their days as a local club band. They were finally named the Best Rock Band of the City by the Phoenix New Times, thus qualifying to perform at 1989’s Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas. The same year a College Music Journal labeled them as the Best Unsigned Band in America. Shortly afterwards, they were virtually invited to New York City for a performance at the famous MTV Music Awards.
Availing each opportunity step by step, the musicians picked up a caption from a W.C Fields photo as their title for the band. They eventually marked their official entry into the music world with the EP ‘Up and Crumbling’ (1991). Their first studio album ‘New Miserable Experience’ was released in 1992. The record sold more than one million copies while its singles like ‘Hey Jealousy’ and ‘Found out about you’ were a radio mainstay during the era of the 90s. Other songs of ‘New Miserable Experience’ including ‘Allison Road’ and ‘Until I fall Away’ were described by the renowned Billboard magazine as ‘pure pop joy’.
In 1995, Gin Blossoms collaborated with Marshall Crenshaw to write the song ‘Until I hear it from you’. The song was especially composed as the soundtrack for the movie ‘Empire Records’. The number became an instant radio hit. However it was not featured as an official Gin Blossoms track until the release of their next album ‘Congratulations…I’m Sorry’ in February 1996.
The Gin Blossoms band members amicably parted ways in 1997 to engage themselves in various other projects. The 2001 New Year’s Eve concert showcased a terrific reunion of the mates soon after which the musicians embarked upon their comeback series of concerts.
2006 saw the much anticipated release of the music group’s fourth studio album called ‘Major Lodge Victory’. It was originally recorded in Tempe. However, the band re-recorded the collection to be released under the label Hybrid Recordings. It featured the very aptly titled ‘Long time gone’ single which became a huge hit instantly. Another popular track of the album is ‘Learning the hard way’.
Gin Blossoms’ most recent album came out in 2010 under the title ‘No Chocolate Cake’. Its compositions once again landed the rockers back on the top of the music charts. Since the band mates no longer live in the same area, hence putting the sonic pieces of the record together served them as a huge and exciting challenge. ‘No Chocolate Cake’ is a collection of sweet romantic and breakup numbers. It is a light hearted album which is easy on the ears while fun to hum.
Gin Blossoms concert tickets have always been in high demand. The band has toured more than twenty five countries across the world while presenting performances to sold out venues. Their upcoming show at Skagit Valley Casino is already making raves around the region. So buy Gin Blossoms tickets and treat yourself to an enthralling night of rock n` roll music.
