Ghost B.C. is a heavy metal band from Sweden. In the United States it is known as Ghost B.C. and has grown very popular over the years. The band was formed in 2008 and wasted no time in showing up on the international music scene and now is here to stay and rock their fans’ world.
Ghost B.C. has managed to make itself distinct and unusual in the music industry with the mystique and inscrutable aura that surrounds them. The band’s live performances are electric and dark, but thrilling and exciting nonetheless. The band members call themselves the Nameless Ghouls and do not reveal themselves to their fans, performing in live shows dressed in dark robes and masks. Their dressing style and air of mystery has played a huge role in making the band the success that it is today.
The hidden identities of the band members create a sense of curiosity among music lovers and attract them to Ghost B.C.. The Nameless Ghouls come off as a representation of the five elements of nature: wind, water, fire, earth and ether. The leader of the band is represented by Papa Emeritus, whose getup is slightly different from the other band members, wearing a skull faced mask.
According to one of the band members, Ghost B.C. started off in 2006, where the members played together in another band. However, one of the members came up with a song which according to him haunted him until he wrote down the satanic lyrics. It was with this song that the actual foundation of the band was laid and it was given the name Ghost. The band decided to take on the imagery that comes with composing satanic verses and build on it with their robe clad glory and the unnamed members.
Over the course of the Ghost B.C.’s career, the band has released two albums, ‘Opus Eponymous’ and ‘Infestissumam’. The first album came out in 2010. The album has a surprisingly beautiful lightweight heavy metal sound. The music composition was clever and transported the listener into another zone. The band did not fail to match the image that it created with real, solid substance in their first album. They managed to surprise the critics and skeptics with the vast range of instruments they have used and the subtle power of their music. The first five minutes of the album hook the listener up to the band and puts them under a spell. The lead vocalist’s voice is soft, smooth and demure and has the ability to wash the listener away in their flow. Given the band’s image, aggression and screaming is what comes in mind when its songs are imagines. However, the album proved this conjecture wrong with its subtle, smoothly flowing songs. The satanic verses, which were a huge cause of strife and speculation, are deep and though provoking, another merit which is due to the band.
In its second album Infestissumam, Ghost B.C. focused on not recreating the sounds from their first album and mimic the same composition throughout the songs of the album. They wanted to create a mark once again so that their fans recognize their creativity and diversity. This album managed to break the intense image the band had created in terms of its sound and the meaning of lyrics. The band managed to make the songs funny and catchy while still playing in the heavy metal genre. The album was a very creative attempt by the band and was loved by its fans.
Interestingly, Ghost B.C. creates quite a juxtaposition by writing satanic lyrics for its songs and covering songs from all time favorites ABBA and The Beatles. Given all these interesting facts about the band and their amazing music, it is impossible not to buy Ghost B.C. tickets and watch the band that has everyone in a tailspin.
