Formed in 2008, the band Fun has managed to win millions of hearts around the world with their hit music and captivating live performances. An alternative rock band, Fun hails from New York comprising of band members Jack Antonoff, Andrew Dost and lead vocalist Nate Ruess. Fun was a brainchild of Nate Ruess that came into existence after Nate's former band "The Format" disbanded in 2008. The Format primarily comprised of Nate Ruess and Sam Means who were joined by regular touring band members Don Raymond, Marko Buzzard and Mike Schey. After releasing four EPs and two studio albums "Dog Problems" (2006) and "Interventions + Lullabies" (2003), the band decided to take a break. Nate immediately approached Jack Antonoff and Andrew Dost to join his new venture. Andrew Dost, a former member of the band Anathallo, had previously played with The Format on several tours. On the other hand, Nate met Jack Antonoff while touring with the band "Steel Train." The band started working within a week after the disbandment of The Format. They released their first demo song "Benson Hedges" and made it available for free. Nate approached Steven McDonald who had produced the Format's most recent album. McDonald was highly enthusiastic about the new project and agreed to produce Fun's debut album. The recording began in late 2008, and the band released their debut single "At Least I'm Not as Sad" in 2009. The single was released on the band's MySpace page and was made available for free download.
 
Fun released their debut album "Aim and Ignite" in August 2009. The album garnered mostly positive reviews from the critics for its upbeat and true pop sound. The AboslutePunk.net praised the album and dubbed it as the "most essential pop album" of the year. Sputnik Music also reviewed the album, commending it for its superb mixing and arrangements. The album reached on twenty-six spot on Sputnik Music's "Top Fifty Albums of the Year" list. "Aim and Ignite" also managed to peak at number seventy-one position on the US Billboard 200 chart and number twenty on the Billboard rock charts. The band continued spreading their magic at live concerts and international music festivals. In 2012, the band released their hit album "Some Nights." The album became a huge success, peaking at number three on the Billboard 200. It reached number one spot on the Billboard rock charts whereas number seven position on the UK Album Chart. The album featured the hit single "We Are Young" that reached number one spot in US, UK, Australia, Austria, Canada and Ireland and was certified five time platinum status in the US. Since its release, the single has been featured in numerous advertisements, and TV shows including Gossip Girl, 90210, Glee, WWE Slammy Awards, and Chuck.
