Fred Hammond who was born on the 27^th of December in 1960 in Detroit in Michigan in the United States of America is an acclaimed gospel singer, record producer and bass guitarist. The main musical genres that he plays are the contemporary Christian music, gospel and worship music. He has been actively a part of the music industry since 1985 till the present day. The music recording Label Company that he is associated with is called Verity Records.
 
He has been a part of the gospel performing band known as Commissioned and is also a solo musician. Hammond has won various Grammy Awards, a Stellar Award and a Dove Award. He has also received many nominations for his work as a writer, performer and a producer.
 
The first time that he received prominence was when he started playing the bass guitar of the gospel band called The Winans. By the time 1985 came, Fred Hammond was rendered to one of the original band members out of the six of the Commissioned band. He took part in creating 10 of the 12 albums of the group. When he left the band, after a very short period of time he rose to immense fame in the gospel music circuit and he sold more than a million copies of all of his albums which he created in collaboration with his music band named Radical For Christ.
 
2002 saw Hammond coming back to his previous music band which was known as Commissioned with some new talent in the band such as Mitchell Jones, Marcus Cole, Keith Staten, Michael Williams, Marvin Sapp and Karl Reid. He then produced the beautiful gospel oriented ballad which had been co-written by Kenny Lattimore and Chante Moore called Make Me Like The Moon. This was released in 2006 as a double CD which contained not just the music genre of gospel but also R&B songs and was later titled as Uncovered/Covered music collection. It came out on the 10^th of October in 2006. You can also hear Hammond performing along with Sean Combs on his album entitled as Thank You.
