Frankie J.’s Solo Flight
J. has received his greatest fan following after stepping into the limelight as a solo artist. His authenticity shines through his solo songs, which incorporate his Latin roots and musical inspirations. In fact, the R&B artist maintains a healthy balance between his English and Latin songs, given to large fan bases from both communities. After the success of “What’s a Man to do?” he immediately went about recording his first Latin album, self-titled as “Frankie J.” Since then, the singer has struck an inclusive balance which his fans appreciate.
His second English album was released in 2005 this time featuring rapper Baby Bash. Titled “The One”, this record has resulted in a series of chart-climbing hits including “Obsession (No Es Amor)” which have ranked number three on the Billboard Hot 100. “How to Deal” and “More than Words” also made it to the Top 40 Singles list.
His third English album, released in 2006 features many more artists as well, including Chamillionaire and Mannie Fresh on “That Girl”. The song, once more, hit the top 40 ranking on the Billboard top 100’s. The album, “More than Words” received a Platinum status by RIAA as nearly one million copies of it have been shipped worldwide. Collaboration is proving a successful recipe for J. and gained him high profile contacts in the industry as well.
With the release of his fourth English-language studio album, ‘Courage’, things started picking up for Frankie J. A successful music video for the track “That’s Wussup” was shot in San Diego and launched during 2012, featuring Baby Bash. Later the same year, J. joined Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez on tour across North America. His duets with Lopez, in particular, were lauded by attendees of this tour given to their undeniable chemistry.
Since then, Frankie J. has been signed with Universal Music where he released a Spanish-language album “Faith Hope y Amor”. The album was nominated for a GRAMMY in 2013 under the category of Best Latin Pop Album. Even though he didn’t win, J. considers this a huge landmark in his career, stating that; “I went to the GRAMMYs and, you know, went out there and enjoyed myself. Hung out with all the big stars and really really just kind of soaked it all in… and I was really excited simply because of the nomination.”
More than Music
J.’s latest album is scheduled to release later in 2017 and is greatly anticipated by his fans. The album’s released singles are already gaining thousands of views on YouTube and people cannot await the completed work. In keeping with his ‘linguistic balance’, this record is a follow up to 2013’s Latin album, “Faith Hope y Amor”.
